Football Boot Spotting – Premier League 18th, 19th and 20th August 2012
Saturday marked the return of the Barclays Premier League and the first ten games showed why the league is rated so highly. There were easy wins, comebacks and a couple of surprise results over the course of the weekend and Monday evening.
West Ham were the only promoted side to manage a win thanks to a goal from Kevin Nolan who was wearing the new Puma King SL football boots. New Swansea signing Michu bagged a brace of goals in a pair of the Euro adiPures in their 5-0 win over QPR. Rickie Lambert made his Premier League debut sporting the latest CTR 360 colour way and scored within minutes of coming on. F50 adiZero wearer Ashley Young was a second half substitute in Manchester United’s 1-0 loss to Everton.
Plays for: West Ham United
It was a dream return for to the Premier League for West Ham as they bagged a 1-0 win over Aston Villa thanks to a goal by Kevin Nolan. There aren’t many players in the Premier League who wear the Puma King SL boots, although we think they are a very neat boot with great heritage look. Mikel Arteta was also another King SL wearer, however he has switched to the Evospeed boots during the off season.
Plays for: Swansea
After scoring 17 goals in all competitions for Rayo Vallecano last season, it is no suprise that Michu got his name on the scoresheet on the opening day of the season. If the Spaniard continues to score in the Bright Blue/Infra Red Euro 2012 boots then we don’t expect him to change when the new colour way is released. Great start to the season for Michu and Swansea.
Plays for: Southampton
At the age of 30, Rickie Lambert finally made his Premier League debut off the bench and marked the occasion with a goal. The Sonic Yellow/White/Black certainly stood out on all those wearing them over the weekend. These included Chelsea defender David Luiz and Fulham midfielder Damien Duff. There were also a number of CTR 360 wearers in the Black/White/Bright Crimson colourway.
After featuring for England against Italy during the week, it was no surprise to see Young used from the bench, however it too late for him to make an impact in the defeat to Everton. There were a number of f50 colourways on show over the weekend with Liverpool’s Luis Suarez opting for the Euro 2012 boot whilst Lionel Messi showed off the latest Metallic Silver/Black/Infrared colourway.
